The game at a glance
In Yoho!, each player takes on the role of a pirate captain, with their own ship and pirate hideout. Strategy is at the heart of the experience: sail through unpredictable ocean currents, collect treasures, avoid dangerous reefs, and outsmart the traps set by your opponents. You’ll also need to carefully manage your limited resources, such as cannonballs and shields, to stay in the race and rule the Caribbean seas.
The game stands out with its unique mechanic, using “Ocean Current” tiles to create a dynamic, modular game board that changes throughout the game. Treasure map cards allow you to perform a variety of actions: rotate currents, slide small islands, or even use nets to retrieve treasures.
Every turn brings new strategic choices, combining skillful maneuvers and clever bluffs to get ahead of your opponents and become the first pirate to secure two treasure chests in your pirate hideout.
The board is made of sea tiles that change every turn: rotate the currents, slide the islets and carve your way to the chests… or to an opponent’s ship.
Each player is a pirate captain with their own ship and hideout. Cannonballs and life tokens are limited: use them at the right moment to sink your rivals.
Open a chest by flipping its card: treasure… or a trap left by the infamous Captain Black Sam! The first pirate to stash two treasures in their hideout wins.
The cards you play decide everything: clever moves, bluffs and dirty tricks. Read the currents and outwit your opponents to become the most feared pirate in the Caribbean.
Designer and illustrator
A graphic designer by training, Joël has always loved making things: visual identities, artisanal mustards, a science-fiction short story… and board games, which he has been crafting for his family since he was a child. With Yoho!, he created both the game and its artwork, bringing his game ideas and his love of design together in a single adventure, at full sail.
